About Elimites Brotherhood Club
The Elimites Brotherhood Club is a Non-Profit Organisation that works for the development of the greater Elim area that includes the sections known as Elim, Magangeni, Shirley, Waterval and Mpheni.
The Club was initially formed as a social club for Gauteng-based people from the greater Elim area to maintain contact while in away from home.
Confronted by the challenges of underdevelopment, poverty and inequality that plague our community of the greater Elim area, we extended the mandate of the Elimites Brotherhood Club to enable it to provide practical responses to these challenges.
We exist to mobilise resources that are utilised to provide school shoes to learners in impoverished communities. We exist to ensure that through our selfless work, we can transform situations of hopelessness to one of hope for a better tomorrow.
The Elim Brotherhood Club was established in 2010 to strengthen the brotherly bonds among Elim community members who are spread throughout different parts of Gauteng. The members soon realised that they could not turn their backs on the harsh social realities that confront the people who are left behind in the community.
In subsequent years, we analysed our community, we realised that there were glaring problems such as cases of children who still go to school barefooted, child-headed households, food insecurity, lack of access information such as career guidance, social challenges such as alcoholism, health challenges, unsafe sex practices, blesser culture, teenage pregnancy, etc. We realised that while most of us have progressed in life, we have left many people behind. There is a huge need for us to intervene and bring relief to harsh conditions such as children going to school barefooted and lacking basic educational support. Our social club needed to responsively transform itself into a movement that works for the good of the entire community.
We are a registered non-profit organisation based in Gauteng, South Africa, with a number of members who are permanently based in the Elim area. The presence on the ground is critical to the attainment of our goals as the Elim-based members are able to physically engage with stakeholders and oversee the implementation of our projects and campaigns.
